    Excursions to selby bushfoods garden

Visits to the Bush Food Gardens can include:

    • A visit to the Murnalong (native Bee) Motel in the wildflower garden. Unlike honey bees, Murnalong don't sting. These gentle creatures play a vital role in the Kulin web of life as a pollinator for many flowers, plants and trees and in this excursion, you can view the capping room and learn about the fascinating Murnalong, its lifecycle, breeding, and habitat.
    • A guided scavenger hunt will highlight different aspects of our natural environment and help us learn the traditional Kulin names of plants, animals, and environmental features of the garden.
    • Bushfood garden walkthrough to learn about Kulin foods, medicines and other traditional uses of plants and their Kulin names.
    • Horticultural and educational support for bush foods garden support. This can include traditional Kulin knowledge as well as contemporary horticultural practice. These gardens can be the basis for ongoing learning about both Kulin culture and the design and maintenance of functional gardens.
    • A cultural hands on display of Bunurong artifacts, baskets and tools.
    •  Taste testing of Bush foods and hands on experiences for the children.
    • The story of Ochre, including the children being painted with Ochre so they can feel what it is like to be involved in ceremony and dance.
    • Traditional stories told to the children to help them with connection to country.
